Psychology is the knowledge of the mind and behavior and studies conscious and unconscious phenomena as well as emotions and thoughts

A professional clinician or researcher involved in the field is called a psychologist and can be classified as a social, behavioral, or cognitive scientist. Some psychologists try to understand the role of mental functions in individual and social behaviors. Interpersonal relationships, psychological resilience, family resilience and other areas of social psychology are also areas of interest to psychologists. Researcher psychologists use empirical methods to infer causal relationships and correlations between psychosocial variables. Some, but not all, clinical and counseling psychologists use symbolic interpretations
